Submissions to the fifth annual Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards Writing Competition are being accepted through 5 p.m., Oct. 31. Entries are accepted in three adult categories: fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Winners will be honored at the 2017 Tucson Festival of Books, Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12.

First-place winners in each category will receive $1,000. Second-place winners receive $500 and third-place winners $250.

All winners will be awarded scholarships (a $300 value) to the Masters Writing Workshop March 13-14 on the University of Arizona campus. The top 50 entrants will be invited to attend the workshop, the faculty for which is drawn from the festival’s presenting authors. Past faculty members include Ann Hood, Joshua Mohr, Larry Watson and Luis Alberto Urrea.
