New Broadway bistro mixes up Asian cuisines
Hot Fusion Oriental Bistro has started serving its menu of Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese fare in the former home of Maxim Super Buffet at 6940 E. Broadway.
The restaurant, with entrees priced between $6 and $8, advertises itself as vegan- and gluten-free friendly. It’s open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
This is the first restaurant venture for owners Winny and Jack Lu.
Jason’s food truck adds a storefront
Taqueria y Raspados Jason has been dishing up Sonoran hot dogs, tacos and burritos with icy raspados for four years from a food truck parked on East 22nd Street.
Three weeks ago, the owners opened a second restaurant, Jason’s Mexican Food, in the former home of Kenney D’s at 2400 N. Pantano Road. It’s open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Kenney D’s closed its Pantano restaurant Dec. 28. It is still open at 8060 E. 22nd St.
Brunch that feels like a backyard barbecue
Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort has traded in the white-tablecloth Sunday brunch etiquette for a more laid-back, checkered tablecloth approach.
The buffet line at Sundance Café’s weekly brunch features slow-cooked and smoked meats including St. Louis ribs, beer-brined chicken, pit-smoked meat and Sonoran hot dogs. They are paired with garden-fresh sides you would expect to see at a backyard barbecue, including homemade fruit preserves and pickled relishes. The brunch also features the classic omelets, pancakes and eggs Benedict.
Brunch is served in the Sundance Café at the resort, 10000 N. Oracle Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. The cost is $26; $13 for children. For reservations, call 544-1700.
El Conquistador’s signature restaurant, Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails, features a rotating three-course prix fixe menu that changes monthly. It’s $49 and is served from 5 to 10 p.m. daily. For reservations, call 544-1705.
