Hotrods Old Vail, the hot-rod-themed restaurant and bar on the far east side, is celebrating its first anniversary on Saturday.
The party includes performances by Greg Spivey Band, Johnny Faber & The Roadkings and Giant Blue beginning at 6 p.m. in the parking lot.
Hotrods Old Vail, 10500 E. Old Vail Road, takes the race car theme to the nth degree. The floor has a two-lane black path with a dotted white stripe and the bar is made of fabricated stainless steel that looks like a shimmering chrome bumper sitting atop a giant faux red tool box.
The main attraction: A large picture window in the dining room that looks into a custom hot-rod shop. During business hours, you can catch mechanics putting together and repairing custom rods.
Hotrods was recently contracted to revive a 1923 Case truck and 1936 Buick Coupe, for the Brinton Museum, a former gentleman's working ranch in Big Horn, Wyo.
Hotrods Old Vail opens at 7 a.m. Saturday for breakfast. Details: 202-0987 or hotrodsoldvail.com
