Sentinel Peak reaches its Kickstarter goal

Aspiring Tucson brewery Sentinel Peak Brewing Co. has topped its $27,500 Kickstarter campaign goal.

Sentinel Peak's founders - firefighters Jeremy Hilderbrand, Matt Gordon and Taylor Carter - hope to open the brewery Aug. 15 at 4746 E. Grant Road.

Nearly 165 backers pledged $30,598 as of Tuesday, $3,098 ahead of the $27,500 goal it set out to raise in mid-March.

That includes seven backers who each pledged $500 - "The Norm Peterson" level, which includes a bar stool dedicated in the backer's name for a year, in addition to other perks.

The campaign ( closes Friday.

Mini Monkey Burgers added for happy hour

Monkey Burger is now serving miniatures of several of its popular burgers during happy hour.

Diners can now get three 2.5-ounce sliders with chips and a drink for $7.99 between 5 and 7 p.m. weekdays at 5350 E. Broadway; and from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays at the downtown location, 47 N. Sixth Ave.

The sliders are minis of three of the restaurant's most popular burgers: the Great American, served with a bourbon remoulade on the side; the blue cheese topped True Blue; and the Smoked Cheddar and Bacon, slicked with garlic herb mayo.

Other happy hour specials include $1 off drinks and $2 off burgers $8.75 or less.

You might also see the Monkey Burger food truck on the road more often. The restaurant rolled out the truck last summer, but it's mostly relegated to catering gigs, said Chas Karakey, the general manager at the east-side location. He said the truck is expected to participate in more Tucson Food Truck Roundups.
