Two restaurants celebrate openings

A pair of new Tucson restaurants wants to let everyone know they are open for business.

Cartel Coffee Lab will host a grand opening for its new downtown location, 210 E. Broadway, at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Munch on free pizza and sandwiches from Cartel’s wood-fired oven while sipping $4 craft beers. Local bands, including Sun Bones, will perform.

Tucson Tamale Company is celebrating the grand opening of its east side location at 7159 E. Tanque Verde Road all day Feb. 1.

Throughout the day, sample the empanadas, housemade tortillas and tamales. Arizona beer and soft drinks will be available for sale and proceeds from a silent auction will benefit Feeding America.

Longhorn Steakhouse coming this spring

LongHorn Steakhouse will open a restaurant in a 6,300-square-foot building at 5725 E. Broadway by the end of April.

The restaurant, which is under construction, will seat 240 diners, a company spokesman said.

LongHorn, a division of Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster), has six restaurants in the Phoenix area.

Free lunch, really; Ra Sushi has BoGO deal

Show your card between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesdays when you order a lunch special and you’ll get a second special of equal or lesser value on the house.

The special lunch menu features a handful of bento boxes, bowls and sushi.

Pastiche reopens after renovation

Pastiche Modern Eatery, 3025 N. Campbell Ave., is open, which is good news for longtime devotees of the restaurant’s $15 steak night or $8 burger and beer special.

Owner Pat Connors closed the restaurant at the beginning of the month for a two-week reconstruction project that expanded the bar and dining area.

Pastiche is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday night is $15 steak night, which includes a salad; and the $8 burger is available during Monday Madness. Other specials include daily happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and half-priced whiskey from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

Alfonso Oil sets Oro Valley opening

Alfonso Gourmet Olive Oil & Balsamics is opening its Oro Valley store on Feb. 13.

The store at 7854 N. Oracle Road, at West Magee Road, is the second for owner Tom Alfonso, who opened the first Alfonso Oil in St. Philip’s Plaza two years ago.
