Things could start getting ugly now that Caliente's Burger Madness is heading to the semifinal round, but two competitors facing off in this week's voting have decided to join forces for a good cause.

Dubbing it "Burger Battle: North vs. South," Fini's Landing and Gentle Ben's are getting together Sunday afternoon to showcase their Final Four burgers.

Chefs from each restaurant will share the kitchen at Barrio Brewing Company to prepare their nominated burger — Fini's Chubasco Burger and Gentle Ben's Diane Burger.

"Patrons and followers of Burger Bracketology can partake in two burgers (one from each restaurant) and two pints ... for $20," Fini's co-owner Doug "Fini" Finical said in a written release.

Finical said hosting the event, to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Barrio was as close as they were going to get to a neutral location. Yes, he said, he realizes that the owners of Gentle Ben's also own Barrio, so to even the odds, the beer being served is Fini's house brew "Barrio Beached Ale," which Barrio makes exclusively for Fini's Landing.

"That's our way of counteracting the home-field advantage," Finical said.

Sunday's face-off will take place in Barrio's newly remodeled I.P.A. Room, 800 E. 16th St. and proceeds will go to support El Tour de Tucson.

Gentle Ben's and Fini's Landing will compete for a chance to face either Zivaz Mexican Bistro or Amigos Burgers and Beer in the finals Nov.14-17.
