Good news, Exophiles — you can now order breakfast with your morning coffee.

Exo Roast Co., 403 N. Sixth Ave, has always offered a smattering of locally made pastries — that routinely sell out — and now it offers regional bites from 7 a.m. to noon weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends.

“It’s something I feel committed to offering — regional food that’s locally sourced but not having a price tag that’s too outrageous,” said manager/owner Amy Smith who worked with chef Lia Griesser on recipes with southwestern flair.

It’s an expansion of what Exo’s already done with coffee — whipping together drinks with chiltepin and mesquite.

With ingredients from Erik Stanford’s Pivot Produce and naturally leavened sourdough English muffins from Small Batch, Exo offers a few breakfast sandwiches as well as gluten-free, vegan granola and roasted root veggies — with squash grown in Smith’s garden — served with egg.

Prices start at $5, and Smith said she hopes to expand food offerings in the future.
