The biggest upset of the first round of Wing Madness came between Chicago and Philly.

Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks, a No. 15 seed, based on reader nominations, took down No. 2 Rocco’s Little Chicago in their first-round matchup.

“And so we bow to Frankie’s in the Wing Madness,” Rocco’s Little Chicago posted on their Facebook Page. “Awesome spot, a great guy, and a real friend. And you can still get our wings when you want ’em!”

“Frankie’s is from the Land of Brotherly love and the home of the Wing Bowl and ‘Rocky’,” Frankie’s posted on Facebook. “With the support of our loyal patrons we made it to the Sweet 16. Just like Rocky and Adrian we are standing halfway through the fight, ready to start the next round!”

Facing them in the next round is Brushfire BBQ, whose original location is near Frankie’s on North Campbell Avenue .

The two top seeds, Wings Over Broadway and Wings and Rice handily won their matchups.

The only chains left in the bracket will face each other in the next round: National chain Wingstop will face Famous Sam’s, which started in Tucson and branched out to the rest of the state.
