Whether you are Wichita State or the Wooden Nickel Tavern, the most important part of March is strategy.

Bianchi’s Italian got enterprising with Wing Madness and offered 50 percent off to anyone who brought in a completed Wings Madness bracket. The west-side joint beat Kappy’s by about 50 votes.

The competition for best wings in Tucson this week was close. The No. 1 seed, Wings Over Broadway, won by the largest margin, beating The Hog Pit by 65 votes.

The Wooden Nickel Tavern was celebrating St. Patrick’s day and its win over 1702 Pizza & Beer.

Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks continued its Cinderella run by beating BrushFire BBQ Co., advancing to the El-Eat Eight.

On the other side of the bracket, Wings & Rice continued its dominance by beating Canyon’s Crown while Thunder Canyon Brewery took out New York Pizza Department.

In the only matchup of chain restaurants, Wing Stop beat Famous Sam’s, advancing to face Home Plate, which beat Trident Grill.
