The Swara Sonora Trio is about to embark on a three-week musical Peace Tour to Indonesia in support of UNICEF children's programs.

But before they leave, they'll perform at 3 this afternoon at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St., as part of the St. Andrew's Bach Society series.

Soprano Kathryn Mueller, baritone Nathan Krueger and pianist Aryo Wicaksono have planned a program that will take the audience around the world — musically.

They'll open with the duet "Virga Jesse floruit" from Bach's original "Magnificat" in E-flat, written in Leipzig on Christmas 1723. It is Joseph and Mary's song to the newborn savior.

From there, it's on to France and Spain, followed by "Love and Variations," a collection of eight songs based on the writings of poets from five countries — Indonesia, Spain, Mexico, the United States and the United Kingdom. The trio commissioned the work from Indonesian composer Ananda Sukarlan.

The program will conclude with songs and duets from some of America's most popular musical theater composers and lyricists.

Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, call 323-2771.

The trio, who met while in graduate school at the University of Arizona, leave on the Peace Tour July 28.
