A member of a rising country band is stepping into the spotlight on Saturday, April 19, to show off his solo side.

Laki Skouras, a member of the Billy Shaw Jr. Band, is one of a half-dozen country singer-songwriters participating in the latest installment of Arizona Originals, which features songwriters performing their original works and talking about the writing process. The event begins at 8 p.m. at Eddie's Cocktails, 8150 E. 22nd St., off South Pantano Road.

Skouras's music inhabits country, soul, rock and blues, with strong nods to neo-trad. Seeing him solo will be a treat; most of his fans know him best as the lead guitarist  and backup vocalist/wing man for award-winning country singer Billy Shaw Jr.

Shaw joins Skouras on the bill with Grady Maguire, Brooke Kelsey, Keila Marie Womack and Mark Miller. Admission is free. Details: facebook.com/AZOriginals

Social media innovator Jessica Northey Shaw launched Arizona Originals in 2016 to show off Tucson's songwriters. Northey Shaw, Billy Shaw Jr.'s wife, has long ties with Nashville including appearing on the syndicated "The Blair Garner Show," broadcast overnights on Tucson's 99.5 KIIM FM.
