Buzz band from Baltimore hits Tucson

Future Islands, that buzz band from Baltimore making waves with its popular synth-pop sound, has a gig at one of Tucson’s newest venues, 191 Toole on Monday.

The group has been making the rounds on the late-night television circuit and touring off of its latest album, “Singles,” released on the 4AD label in March.

Its performance of the single, “Seasons,” on the “Late Show with David Letterman” went viral in March, boosting the band’s profile with more than 2 million views.

Future Islands performs at 191 Toole, 191 E. Toole Ave., at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18-$20 through ticketfly.com online.

Blackberry Smoke brings Southern rock

Southern rock lives on with the Atlanta band, Blackberry Smoke, performing at the Rialto Theatre next Thursday.

The group is tight with fellow Georgian Zac Brown and his Zac Brown Band. It has also toured with the likes of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Church.

The band is promoting its latest live release, “Leave a Scar, Live: North Carolina.”

The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.50-$20 through the Rialto box office, 740-1000. The Rialto is at 318 E. Congress St.
