Local acts perform covers for charity

Get under the covers with 30 local bands this weekend as the 2013 Great Tucson Cover-Up gets underway.

The fun kicks off at Plush tonight, moves to Club Congress on Friday and finishes off at the Rialto Theatre Saturday.

Artists getting the cover treatment include Prince, the Killers, the Pixies, Heart and Quincy Jones.

Money raised from the event goes to the Southern Arizona Artists & Musicians Healthcare Alliance (SAMHA).

Doors open at 7 p.m. on all three nights. Tickets are $8 for one night, $12 for two nights and $15 for all three nights and can be purchased at the door.

Festive local fiesta
at Club Congress

Chase the three nights of local Cover-Up acts with even more local acts at the Christmas Carnivale Wednesday night.

The concert takes place at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St., and will feature a wide range of local artists, including Combo Westside, Al Perry, the Kate Becker Band and Mariachi Luz de Luna.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. 622-8848.

— An African Night Dance Fusion concert at Solar Culture Saturday with the Rockers Uptown and DJ Boss Ross.

— Portland, Ore., trio Lovers at Solar Culture Sunday.
