Boondocks raises money for trees

The Boondocks Lounge is holding a benefit concert Sunday in an effort to help beautify its surroundings.

Local musician Kevin Pakulis will perform at the venue to raise money for the Mountain View Neighborhood Association’s “green belt” project. Proceeds will go toward the care of the neighborhood’s recently planted trees.

The show is at 6 p.m. It’s $7 at the door, 3306 N. First Ave.; 690-0991.

Music at Saguaro Corners Ice House

Saguaro Corners Ice House is turning up the heat in Tucson this summer by hosting live music Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

“Our whole goal was trying to create something there on the east side, and we aren’t done yet,” said the restaurant’s owner Jim Campbell. “A big chunk of it beside food and the indoor-outdoor bar was the music aspect.”

The bands perform from 6 to 9 p.m. This week’s lineup: Dale Clark, Thursday; 2 Lazy 2 Ranch, Friday; and Jay Faircloth, Saturday.

Saguaro Corners, 3750 S. Old Spanish Trail, is open 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. saguarocorners.com 

Robinson plays solo
to promote duet album

Smokey Robinson is looking to some top talent to help round out his new duets album, due out in September.

The album will feature classic Robinson tracks sung with stars including John Legend, Elton John and James Taylor.

Robinson will bring back some of his Motown classics when he plays Casino del Sol’s AVA, 5655 W. Valencia Road, at 8 p.m. Saturday. $25-$75 through tickets.solcasinos.com

Band trades Aussie winter for US summer

Lime Cordiale is skipping winter in its native Australia this year to take on a summer tour in the United States.

The band, set to play a free show at Club Congress Friday, is jumping around the West Coast and into Texas before it arrives here. Their 21-and-older show Friday is at 9 p.m. at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St. It’s the band’s only Arizona stop; hotelcongress.com
