Dab oil — right onto your face.
It’s not as crazy as it sounds.
“People think, ‘Oh my gosh, oil!’ says Mindy Blumenthal, store manager of Bluemercury in La Encantada, which sells beauty and personal products and has a spa.
“When people think oil, they think pore clogging.”
The right oils can help with all sorts of skin issues from dryness to acne, she says.
“Oils are fabulous,” Blumenthal says.
Years ago, oil could be found solely in the hair-product aisles as a way to combat drying treatments. These days, it’s popped up in all kinds of products for body and face.
Blumenthal says such oils don’t tend to have a lot of additives and are very concentrated, so just a few drops are all you need.
Offerings range from Darphin, which has several specific oils for different skin issues ($70-$150), to Caudalie’s all-in-one Divine Oil that can be used on hair, face and body ($32 and $49).
Blumenthal offers these tips for using facial oils:
- First, see a skin-care expert to determine which is best for you.
- Put a few drops in your palm and rub hands together to warm the oil, then gently pat all over your face and neck.
- You can even add a few drops of oil to body lotion to give skin an extra hydrating boost.
