DON’T MISS

“THE GOOD WIFE” — It may not garner the buzz and ratings of other top-flight dramas, but in its fifth season, this legal thriller continues to be one of prime time’s best. Now comes a game-changing episode called “Hitting the Fan,” in which Alicia’s (Julianna Margulies) secret plot to start a new firm with Cary (Matt Czuchry) is finally exposed. That triggers an intense, gripping hour as emotions boil over, battle lines are drawn and a desperate struggle to retain clients begins. 8 tonight, CBS.

OTHER GOOD BETS

TONIGHT: “Secrets of the Tower of London” offers viewers a fascinating tour of a historical landmark that has stood for nearly a thousand years and served as a royal castle, a prison, a place of execution and torture, an armory and the Royal Mint. 7, PBS.

TONIGHT: The deliciously scary “Halloween Wars” come to an end tonight with the final challenge: Create a confection that conjures up visions of “terror and nightmares.” The winners nab $50,000. 9, Food Network.

MONDAY: Bring your battle gear. It’s time for the knockout rounds on “The Voice,” and we expect wild flurries of vocal haymakers — or something along those lines. 7 p.m., NBC.

MONDAY: Ever dream of owning a bar? It’s certainly no party, but in the new series, “Bar Hunters,” bar expert and sommelier Tom Powers helps newbies turn their fantasies into reality. 10 p.m., Discovery.

TUESDAY: “American Experience: War of the Worlds” is a compelling documentary that recalls how, on the eve of Halloween 75 years ago, Orson Welles punk’d America with his fake radio newscast of a Martian invasion. Among those interviewed: Welles’ daughter Chris Welles Feder and filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich. 9 p.m., PBS.

WEDNESDAY: Halloween haunts “The Middle” in “Halloween IV: The Ghost Story.” It gets otherworldly when Sue (Eden Sher) holds a seance and ghostly — or should that be ghastly? — when family tries to give Brick (Atticus Shaffer) advice about girls. 7 p.m., ABC

THURSDAY: Yes, we still love to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” after all these years. And if you don’t, maybe you deserve to get a rock in your trick-or-treat bag. 7 p.m., ABC.

THURSDAY: You may want to keep the lights on for this one: “Ghost Adventures” celebrates Halloween by spending a couple of hours in Transylvania, home of Dracula. Shudder. 9 p.m., Travel Channel.

FRIDAY: The food fight comes to an end tonight on “MasterChef Junior” as the final four kiddie chefs serve up chicken dishes. The last one standing gets $100,000. 7 p.m., Fox.

SATURDAY: “Scandal” star Kerry Washington shows off her comedic side as a first-time host on “Saturday Night Live.” The musical guest is Eminem. 10:30 p.m., NBC.
