Lauren Bruner was one of 10 crew members who is still alive from the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that launched the US into World War II. Bruner, 93, was a 21-year-old petty officer and at his battle station on the port side above the Admiral's bridge when a bomb ignited the magazine in the forward section of the ship destroying it in seconds. He visited the UA Special Collections where he was able to see photographs, sports programs, pillow shams, several copies of the ship's newspaper and other memorabilia. Later he visited the USS Arizona memorial in the student union where he had the opportunity to talk to students.
