Walkers trekked along West Ajo Way, headed toward Kennedy Park on Sunday for the 10th annual “Migrant Trail”. The 75-mile journey began last Monday in Sasabe, Sonora, with the goal of bringing awareness to the plight of people who cross the the desert into the United States. The Tucson Sector around Casa Grande and on the Tohono O’odham Nation is especially hazardous because migrants can walk for dozens of miles before finding water, Border Patrol officials say.
