Foster families needed

Pima Animal Care Center needs foster parents willing to give large dogs a home for the holidays. The shelter started the week with more than 350 pups and over two days has taken in an additional 60 large ones. PACC is looking for foster families to take medium and large dogs for at least one week to give the center time to reduce the population. PACC staff will work with folks interested to determine which pets will fit with their household or schedule. Once selected, foster parents can take their pet home that same day. To learn more about fostering, community members should call PACC’s Pet Support Center at 724-7222.

Pima Animal Care Center: Is the community’s only open-admission shelter. PACC cares for about 20,000 pets each year and is the only shelter in the county that never turns away a pet in need. Anyone interested in adopting should visit PACC’s new shelter during business hours, noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Adopted pets will come spayed or neutered, with age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit, too. In addition to the adoption fee, a separate $18 licensing fee will apply to adult dogs.

To see available pets, visit PACC’s shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, or PACC’s website. While the Home for the Holidays adoption special applies only to dogs and puppies, PACC has plenty of cats who would also like a new home for the holidays. Their adoption fees range up to $50. For more information, call PACC’s Pet Support Center at 724-7222 or learn more at pima.gov/animalcare.
