Albert H.J. Mueller
a devoted husband, loving father and faithful friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Al was born in Van Nuys, CA on September 3, 1926 to Emma and Albert Mueller. He received degrees from the California Institute of Technology and Stanford University. Al married Ardita Louise Williams on December 20, 1951; she was his loving wife until her death on January 10, 1982. Al had a long and distinguished career with Hughes Aircraft Company including his role as Division Manager of their Tucson operation from 1972 to 1984. Al married Jeannie Hoover Horner on April 7, 1984, and moved with Jeannie to Vienna, Austria after his retirement in 1985. They intended to stay for one year but ended up living in Vienna for three years before returning to Tucson permanently in 1988. Al was always willing to help those in need in big or small ways. Whether it involved running the United Way campaign for Pima County or helping a refugee from Sudan, Al wanted to serve and help those less fortunate. Al had a variety of passions that included travel, skiing, tennis, and bridge. He had a zest for life and learning! Al and Jeannie loved sharing a good meal or an exciting adventure with family and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ardita (Dee). He is survived by Jeannie Horner Mueller of Tucson; his sister, Margaret Walker, of Rancho Palos Verdes; his son Al and daughter-in-law, Susan, of Colorado Springs, CO and their children, Rachel, Michael and Jonathan; his son Jim and daughter-in-law, Linda, of South Lake Tahoe, CA and their sons, Max and Luke and his daughter, Janine of Renton, WA. Al is also survived by his stepchildren, Base and Jenny Horner, of Tucson and their children, Bryce and Zoe; Adeline and Olaf Neubert, of Sagaponack, NY and their children, Gillian, Nicki and Amelie; Brian and Ann Horner of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and their children, Alexa and Blair; Hal Horner of Tucson and his daughters, Bailey and Ashley; and Adele and Jim Jacques of Portland, ME and their sons, Charlie and Sam. Al was very proud of his 16 grandchildren who were spread out from coast to coast and who always received a call and a song on their birthdays. Al's legacy of devotion, love and service continues through his wife, his children and his grandchildren. Services will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 3738 Old Sabino Canyon Road. Donations in Al's memory may be made to these local philanthropies: Wright Flight, Angel Charity for Children, or the St. Alban's Memorial Fund. Arrangements by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.
