ATKIELSKI, John Julius

67, died Friday, May 12, 2017 after fighting a courageous ten-year battle with multiple myeloma and other serious ailments. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Linda (Hermes) Atkielski; son, Jal Atkielski (Elyse); daughter, Christine Lopez, (Derek); grandchildren, Ariah Atkielski, Byrdie and Alden Lopez. Survived by three older sisters, Pat Truckey, Toni Wingfield and Eloise Atkielski, Hermes family, many nieces and nephews, and godchildren. Nurtured and inspired by father figure Jerry Schell, John developed an early love of auto mechanics and the ability to design, create and fix practically anything. He was an ASE master mechanic, certified respiratory therapist, and even started a restaurant from the ground up. A loving and dedicated husband and father, John's life revolved around his family while devoting his time to help others. John's true passion was big-game hunting. His adventures led him through Arizona, Colorado and the wild plains of Africa. He found solace and peace while fishing along the shores of Big Lake Arizona. The Funeral Service is Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. with reception following.
