David Herman Shackman

1917 - 2013

David passed away peacefully on November 27, 2013 at the age of 96. He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth and Lawrence (Diane); his two grandsons, Alexander (Jessica) and Jonathan (Holly) and his three great-grandchildren, Micah, Hannah, and Sydney. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Evelyn, and several nieces and nephews. David was born and lived in New York City almost his entire life. During World War II, he was a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and served in the Pacific Ocean Theater. After the war, he worked in the grocery business for about 10 years and in the mid-1950's he became a New York City taxicab driver. He was both an excellent driver and a great conversationalist. David drove a taxicab for 25 years. He and his wife, Anne, relocated to Tucson, AZ in June 2005 to be closer to family. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family.
