On April 2, 2014 beloved mother and grandmother passed on to join the angels, succumbing to dementia. Evelyn was born in July 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI. She married Charles who was in the USAF. They had two daughters, Shirley (Jeff) Kosek and Laura Misner-Vitale, and together the family traveled often until settling back in GR after Charlie's retirement. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 51. Evelyn joined Shirley and Jeff in Tucson in 1998. She loved AZ and every day appreciated the beauty of the area, especially the mountains. She met and loved her last companion, Don, and they were blessed with ten years together filled with laughter, good food, drink and traveling. They ventured to Mexico, Panama, Germany and Italy. Evelyn is survived by daughters, Shirley and Laura; sons-in-law, Jeff and Jim; granddaughters, Katie and Leah; sister, Rosanne and loving companion, Don. Evelyn was a USAF veteran, parishioner of St Elizabeth Anne Seton Church, 50+ Club and played the accordion since the age of six. Her body was donated to the UA Medical School to help others and perhaps someday find a cure for this insidious illness, dementia. Many thanks and much love to her care givers at Mom and Dad Place. Thank you for the care and most importantly, love and dignity you gave to Evelyn. Thank you to Casa de la Luz Hospice for the support, kindness and help you gave to Evelyn and us, her family. A Mass of intention is being held in Evelyn's honor on Mother's Day, May 11, 2014 at the 6:00 p.m. Mass at SEAS Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions lovingly suggested to: Mom and Dad Place, 9980 N. Shannon Rd., 85742, Casa de la Luz Hospice Foundation or Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
