Gilbert R. Gradillas
4/29/1937 - 5/9/2013
It is with great sadness and a broken heart that we announce the passing of our father, Gilbert R. Gradillas. Daddy passed away after spending a month in the hospital after a fall and other complications. He received a kidney transplant in April, 2009 which meant no more dialysis and a better quality of life. Our father was a native Tucsonan and the son of Louis and Rosario Gradillas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a barber for over 45 years. He had a large clientele and made many wonderful friends. Our father was a sharp dresser and he never left the house without shining his shoes. He is preceded in death by his parents, our beloved mother and brothers, Frank and Federico. Survived by daughters, Suzi, Annette and son, Gil, Jr.; brothers, Louis, Rene and Ray; sisters, Eva, Hortencia, Betty, Josie and Molly; grandchildren, Delisa, Danielle, Gil III, Anthony, Alyssa and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Valerie, Victoria, Ambrose and Aidan; We wish to thank the Tucson Fire Department, Station 14 for all of the times they responded, your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. Thanks also to Dr. Bruce Kaplan and staff at UAMC for all you did for dad; he loved you all. There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Santa Cruz Church (6th Ave/22nd St.) at 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Interment of his ashes will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. We are so glad you and mama are together and dancing once again. Until we are all together again. Anchors Away Pop! You're looking handsome Sailor! Arrangements by FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTHLAWN.
