KIRKWOOD, Thomas Wade, 95, died peacefully in his home in Tucson, Arizona, on August 12, 2014, surrounded by his family. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 2, 1919, he married Jessie Mae Yerger in 1941 and served during World War II as an Army Captain in the Pacific. Over the next four decades, Wade rose to become an executive at Goodyear's home office in Akron, Ohio. In 1981 he and Jessie moved to the Smoky Mountains. Ten years later they relocated to Tucson, still energetically pursuing new adventures. Survivors include his son, Thomas Wade Kirkwood III; his daughters, Linda Smith and Carolyn Kirkwood, their spouses and five grandchildren. On August 30, 2014 Wade will be laid to rest beside his beloved Jessie in a private ceremony in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or Casa de la Luz Hospice in Tucson. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.
