Mary Louise Preciado

97, died peacefully on April 2, 2013, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Carlsbad, CA. Mrs. Preciado was born on November 26, 1915 in Phoenix, Arizona to parents, Francisco and Maximina Pedroza. She was the second of three children. The Pedroza family lived in Phoenix and Jerome, Arizona; they eventually moved to Los Angeles, CA. In 1938, Mary Louise met Charles G. Preciado at an afternoon dance; they married almost a year later (May 1939). The couple had one child, Madeleine Elizabeth (Walter) Tober. In 1947, the family moved Tucson, AZ where the couple resided for the rest of their married life. Mary Louise lived with her daughter and son-in-law (Madeleine and Walter Tober) in Carlsbad, CA for the last ten years of her life. Mary Louise worked at Essie's Maternity and Children's Boutique; she also worked for Eileen's of Tucson for 15 years until her retirement in 1994. She was a faithful 50 year member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Mary Louise is known for her hard work, her dedication to her family, and her delicious cooking. Mrs. Preciado is preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Preciado and her sister, Frances. She is survived by her sister, Elvira Mejia of Monterey Park, CA; her daughter, Madeleine Elizabeth Tober (Walter) and her three grandchildren, Christopher (Diane) Tober, Kristen (Glen) Halvorson and Adrienne (Dave) Laney. Her grandchildren brought much joy to her life; she delighted in caring for them and for their many children. Mary Louise had a total of 14 great- grandchildren, whom she loved equally and dearly: Logan, Shelby, Cameron and Mitchell Tober; Tyler, Taylor, Dustin, Blanca, Benjamin, Asher, Grace and Samuel Halvorson; Christopher and Morgan Laney. In honor of Mary Louise, a Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Hope Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to St. Ambrose School.
