O Mcfarland,

formerly known as Kirk Devereaux McFarland,

born July 9, 1950 in Hammond, Indiana, died peacefully at his home in Tucson Arizona on June 7, 2013. He is survived by his brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Joan; sister, Jane McFarland; his nieces, Sara McFarland and Katharine Blinn, as well as his nephews, Alex and Ryan Dill. O Mcfarland was a gifted man and had an amazing ability to focus energy on achieving a goal, whether it was his own personal accomplishments (marathon runner, black belt karate, swimmer, amateur photographer, world traveler) or, particularly in later life, earnestly striving to make better lives for others as a volunteer Chaplain, family therapist, and friend. He had an extraordinarily gentle soul with a profound patience and ability to deeply love and appreciate even the smallest of details in nature and gestures or characteristics of others. He was a thoughtful, sentimental person who had a unique way of giving special meaning to what others might deem ordinary, and a delightful ability to laugh at human nature. O approached life with a sense of wonder and a belief in the goodness of people. Above all, he searched for and helped others to find peace. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE, HEATHER CREMATION AND BURIAL.
