Robert Glen Buckelew

1/8/1925 3/27/2013

Robert (Bob) Glen Buckelew passed away peacefully, of natural causes, in the loving embrace of Clara, one day after their 65th wedding anniversary. He was born to his pioneering parents, John W. and Mary Dee Buckelew, on the family farm in Chandler, Arizona. Being the 11th, out of 12 children, he learned the value of family, humor, integrity and hard work. His positive perspective and generous nature led him to a lovely student nurse, Clara Vilmanyi, who he married on March 26, 1948. After share cropping around the state, they leased and then bought their own farm at Three Points. Together they raised four children and prospered as a farming family. Bob's honesty, humor and leadership skills led him to serve on the board of directors for Trico Electric Coop, Arizona Electric Power Coop, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Arizona Cotton Growers Association, Pima County Farm Bureau, Arizona Grain Coop and Oro Valley Country Club. He took pride in putting all his children through College and was thrilled with their degrees and achievements. Later in life, he enjoyed summers at his lake front cabin in Montana. Most will remember him as the "life of the party" and for his joke telling abilities. He also enjoyed golf, hunting, fly fishing and wildlife photography. He had amazing abilities as an author and iron sculptor. A well read man, Bob formed strong opinions about the world around him and encouraged his descendants to be honest, creative, productive citizens and to know that humor will always prevail. He is survived by his wife, Clara; his daughters, Barbara McQuirk (Bill), Dorothy Buckelew Nuckels, Clara Lynn Watson (Bob); his son, Nick Buckelew (Laurie); his six grandchildren, Clint, Greg, Clara, Amy, Alyssa, Jared and four great-grandchildren. A special thanks to all the caring individuals at Amber Lights and Casa de la Luz Hospice. A private family service will be held. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
