Ruth Esther Bullis-Awad
95, passed May 26, 2013. Born in New Haven, CT, raised in West Haven, CT the daughter of Emmett Frederick and Jane Loretta Carey-Bullis, and the wife of the late C. M. Awad. Ruth graduated from West Haven High School and Stoney Brook College. During WW II Ruth worked at Gilbert Toy Factory converted for the war effort. Ruth and her husband opened Sanitary Fruit Market in Scranton, PA, opened Charles Bar and Grill in Newberg, NY, and opened a mobile home sales, real estate and apartment rental business in Elmira, NY. After her husband's death in 1961, Ruth built a mobile home park, and a car wash with her two sons and continued her existing businesses. She moved to California in 1980, worked for the US Government Dept of Commerce Bureau of the Census and also did social and volunteer work. In 1995, Ruth moved to Tucson, AZ and worked for the Dept. of Commerce, and joined Literacy Volunteers of Tucson. She later joined Lend-a-Hand, attended a writing class and wrote a children's book on the internet at http://lahseniorwriters.wordpress.com/ during her retirement. She was treasurer of Pueblo de las Catalinas Home Owners Association for 15 years. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Gail, Joseph and Joanne and by step-daughters, Esther, Edna, Jeanine, Nellie and their spouses, and step-grand and step-great-grandchildren. She will be missed for her good humor and smiles. She was a wonderful mother. We love you Mom. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 12, 13 and 14, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Oro Valley. On Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd. at 1st Ave.) Services begin at 11:00 a.m. with a one hour Viewing; 12:00 noon Rosary Recitation; 12:20 p.m. Funeral Mass; 1:00 p.m. Eulogies; 1:30 p.m. Procession to Evergreen Cemetery (3015 N. Oracle Road at Ft. Lowell); 1:45 p.m. Graveside Service and Committal begins. And as Ruth always said, "We'll be talkin".
