SHELDON, Rev. Eugene "Gene" Clair, 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home in Tucson. Gene was born February 8, 1924 in Twining, Michigan to Lovern and Fred Sheldon. Gene is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; daughter, Julie (Russ) Raymond; son-in-law, David Carbajal; brother, Ervin (Truey) Sheldon; sister, Pauline Rodgers; three grandchildren, Jamie Nivison, Noelle Stannard and William Black; five great-grandchildren, Victoria Nivison, James Nivison, Elijah Black, Seven Black and Adrianna Stannard; his beloved dog, Charmin and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Jean Carbajal; his brothers, Clarence and Herbert and his parents. Gene loved the Lord, and served as an ordained minister in the Free Methodist & Wesleyan Holiness Churches for 42 years. He was also an accomplished carpenter and handyman and remodeled several churches, parsonages and homes. Gene was always there to help friends with carpentry projects or whatever else they needed him for. He liked to garden, oil paint, collect things for his tool shed, play Skip-Bo and eat sweets. We will miss the evenings around the kitchen table playing games and listening to his corny jokes. A special thank you to Carondelet Hospice for their tender care and support that helped our family during this difficult time. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at EVERGREEN MORTUARY AND CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Friends may call 12:00 p.m. until Service time. www.evergreenmortuary-cemetery.com
