Men’s fall fashion doesn’t have to follow the hot trends strutted across runways in New York or Paris. It’s hot enough here in the desert as is.

Bundling up in quilted jackets and knotted scarves might look great indoors — especially if the AC is cranked up — but for the most part, those styles will have you sweating on the walk from car to office.

Let’s be real here: “You wear jeans more than any item in your wardrobe,” says Ted Greve, the owner of Loop Jean Co., 7047 N. Oracle Road.

Slimmer jeans are in this fall, and the neon-splashed denim of past seasons has faded. Literally. It’s all about the subtle, wearable colors, say Greve and his wife and store co-owner, Tamara.

Trayson Thurlow, a 17-year-old junior at Walden Grove High School, helped us showcase some of this season’s “in” looks. For the average guy who likes to mix and match casual and spiffy, we’re looking at plaid, brown leather and versatile jackets.
