Dressing to flatter your figure sometimes means ditching sizes.

“As a designer, I’ve never thought of size. I’ve just thought of women,” says Elizabeth Denneau, owner of CandyStrike. “All women deserve cool clothes.”

Denneau started CandyStrike as an online store and micro-boutique that focuses on plus-size clothing for women. Last year she broadened her inventory to include sizes 2 through 4XL — but not so women can squeeze into smaller sizes.

“We’re so size-conscious,” Denneau says. “We’re so scared of numbers. Don’t worry about it. Get something that fits you.”

Margrit Laman, owner of several local clothing stores including Limited Additions, emphasizes fit and a customer’s best features. Experimenting is definitely a good idea.

So let’s do it.
