In late 2016, Marana’s Continental Ranch lost its familiar pizzeria, an outpost of Hungry Howie’s on West Twin Peaks Road, next door to a busy karate studio.

Howie’s quietly closed after nine years in the neighborhood and the small counter-service-only restaurant was left to collect dust.

Until this summer.

Lindsey Fisher, who owns the popular Marana pizzeria and restaurant Dominick’s Real Italian, inked a lease for the space at 7575 W. Twin Peaks Road near Interstate 10 and will soon open Twin Peaks Pizza. The pizzeria, which Fisher said is not affiliated with Dominick’s, will specialize in hand-tossed thin-crust pizza, calzones, salads and sandwiches.

Workers have been renovating the space for the past few weeks including installing wood paneling on the walls, painting and redesigning the counter area. Fisher said she hopes to open the first or second week of September.

Fisher launched Dominick’s in spring 2013 in the Cortaro Plaza, 8330 N. Thornydale Road at West Cortaro Farms Road. That restaurant has a full menu of pastas, salads, calzones and pizzas, which consistently garner solid reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor.

Twin Peaks Pizza will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
