Hiker on the trail

Catalina State Park, north of Tucson, can now claim to be part of the best-managed state park system in the nation.

This is one good way to burn some of those turkey day calories.

For the third year in a row, Arizona State Parks is partnering with REI in offering free day-use passes for any of Arizona's 35 state parks on Nov. 24.

To get a free pass, just stop by any REI store in Arizona from Nov. 18-22, or at the Arizona State Parks & Trails Outdoor Recreation Information Center in Phoenix.

Some popular state parks near Tucson include Catalina, Oracle, Picacho Peak and Kartchner Caverns.

When you head outside, snap some photos, post them online and tag @AZStateParks or use the hashtag #OptOutside. The 10 photos with the most likes will win a free Arizona state parks annual pass, which means you'll have free access to the parks all next year.
