Border Patrol career: Has been with the agency for 10 years, nine of those in agency's search, trauma and rescue unit, Borstar. Currently the coordinator for all 911 calls the agency receives.

Family: Married with two children.

Other: Born and raised in Mexicali, Mexico. Moved to the U.S. at 16. Was a hospital corpsman, a medic, in the Navy. While at a naval station in El Centro, Calif., Agundez began training Border Patrol agents in first aid and CPR. A year later, in 1999, he joined the Border Patrol.
