Junior Johnny Field's walk-off RBI single gave the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats a 4-3 victory over Columbia at Hi Corbett Field on Friday night.

Freshman Zach Gibbons opened the UA ninth with a triple down the right field line. After a walk to Riley Moore, Davis Spinosa replaced Thomas Crispi on the mound.

With a 1-1 count, Field hit a hanging slider into left to score Gibbons with the winner.

Arizona (12-4) rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to tie the game after being held scoreless for the first seven innings.

Starter David Speer gave up eight hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings for Columbia (0-5).

But in the eighth, the UA finally got on the board.

Brandon Dixon reached on an error to lead off the eighth. After Dixon stole second, Trent Gilbert singled to right to put runners on the corners.

Freshman Kevin Newman followed with a single to right-center to score Dixon with the UA's first run of the night.

After a pitching change, pinch hitter Ryan Koziol hit a sacrifice fly that scored Gilbert and moved Newman to second.

Newman advanced to third on a ground out and scored on Scott Kingery's single to tie the game.

UA's Mathew Troupe picked up the win, pitching a perfect ninth in relief of starter Konner Wade.

Troupe has yet to give up an earned run in 9 2/3 innings this season.

Wade allowed seven hits, two walks and one earned run in eight innings.

The teams are set to resume action today at 6 p.m. at Hi Corbett.
