There is no "State of the University" speech at the University of Arizona this year.

Former president Robert Shelton canceled the annual events in Tucson and Phoenix before he left for his new job.

Instead, interim president Eugene Sander is holding a series of town halls, with Q&A time at each.

The sessions are planned for noon Oct. 12 and Nov. 16 at the Gallagher Theater at the student union, and noon Dec. 8 at DuVal Auditorium at the hospital. The forums will be broadcast on the Arizona Public Media website.
