Two free events take place Saturday at Park Place, 5870 E. Broadway, to celebrate Hunger Action Month and Architecture Week 2013.

Canstruction brings six teams of architects, designers and engineers together to build sculptural installations using only canned food. The cans will then be donated to the Community Food Bank of Arizona. Last year, the event brought 13,271 pounds of food to the food bank.

Kidstruction consists of 108 team entries of models made out of business cards, toothpicks and glue made by 370 middle school students from 14 area schools.

Judging of Kidstruction takes place from 8 to 11 a.m. tomorrow, with awards presentation at noon. Canstruction begins at 9:30 a.m. and teams have eight hours to build.

Canstruction takes place at Sears court, center court and the space beside Abercrombie & Fitch. Kidstruction models will be on display at Sears court.

Creations from both events will be on display through October 7.
