Summer break is almost over for school children.

Make the final weeks count and have some fun. Here are some free and cheap ideas for the rest of the week.

Tuesday: Ben's Bells at Bookman's Ina, 3733 W. Ina Road. Ben's Bells will be stopping by Bookmans to get help painting tiles and bell parts. Bring the whole family. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Free.

Wednesday: Loft Kids Fest at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway. The Loft Kids Fest continues today with a screening of The Land Before Time. There will be pre-show fun and games hosted by Mildred and Dildred Toy  Store and kids will get to "Be a Paleontologist" as UA teacher and dinosaur discoverer Rich Thompson leads an investigation into fossil bones from the Tucson area. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. Show starts at 10 a.m. Free admission and free popcorn. 

Thursday: Big Hunk Candy Bars and Geology at Santa Rosa Library, 1075 S. Tenth Ave. Staff from Colossal Cave Mountain Park will teach you about geology and the physical forces affecting it, using Big Hunk Candy Bars. The library website says this event is "totally edible and really messy, but lots of fun." 2 to 4 p.m. Free.

Friday: The Princess Bride adventure at Valley of the Moon, 2544 E. Allen Road. This interactive fantasy adventure for the whole family includes a wicked villain, a daring hero and a damsel in distress. It's presented by the Valley of the Moon players and will take the family on a tour through fairyland, winding paths, magic statues and enchanted gardens. 7 p.m. Free, but donations are appreciated. 323-1331.

Saturday: Pool party at Lohse Family YMCA, 60 W. Alameda Street. Catered meal, dancing, Pima County Book Bike, raffles and a family craft. Donate a book for half off admission. 5 to 7 p.m. $4 per family. 

Sunday: Science Sundays at Children's Museum Tucson, 200 S. Sixth Ave. Hands-on science related activities for the whole family. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. $2.
