If you complete a free bicycle safety class with The Pima County Department of Transportation's Bicycle & Pedestrian Program, you will get your choice of a free bike light set, U-lock or helmet.

One class, for kids ages 8 to 10, Bicycle Information for Kid's Education — BIKE for short — takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at Perimeter Bicycling, 2609 E. Broadway.

There are also one-hour University of Arizona bike rides to help participants become familiar with UA bike routes and how to cycle safely around campus and the streetcar tracks.

There are also mechanics and women's mechanics classes and sessions aimed at helping novices become confident and capable cyclists.

Sizes are limited. Call 724-2453 to find out about classes and to sign up.

Classes are conducted by instructors certified through the League of American Bicyclists.
