The first-degree murder case against a man accused of participating in a 2010 killing now rests with the jury

Manuel Ignacio Mendivil-Martinez stands accused of helping to kill Walter Puerta-Garcia as part of a rivalry between two Mexico-based drug trafficking organizations.

Puerta-Garcia was kidnapped, bound, shout four times in the face and his body burned to hide evidence. His remains were found southeast of Tucson International Airport.

Prosecutors argued that Mendivil-Martinez helped kidnapp and kill the victim.

The defense said Mendivil-Martinez was framed by a man who already has admitted his role in the killing, Jose Maria Elias Gonzalez-Lopez.

The jury began deliberations on Tuesday.
