An execution date has been set for one of the men convicted of a string of murders in 1996.

Robert Jones is scheduled to die by lethal injection on October 23.

Jones was convicted in 1998 of six murders, which occurred in May and June 1996.

He and an accomplice, Scott Nordstrom, were convicted of robbing the Moon Smoke Shop, on Grant Road near First Avenue, where they murdered two people.

Just days later, Jones and Nordstrom committed a second robbery and murder at the Firefighters Union Hall, on Benson Highway, where they shot and killed four more people.

Nordstrom also was sentenced to death for the killings.
