Sentencing of three men convicted of a home invasion had to be postponed in Pima County Superior Court on Monday.

Attorney’s for Ricardo Beltran-Leon, Juan Daniel Garcia and Elizar Lugo-Ochoa asked superior court Judge Richard Nichols to delay the sentencing for a week while mitigating factors are considered.

Defense attorneys said the home invasion the men committed likely was committed to collect on a debt, and not a random crime.

Fields said the distinction between the two motives could play into the sentence he hands down to the defendants.

Deputy Pima County Attorney Lindsey St. John said she would review the police reports and a pre-sentencing report to inform her sentencing recommendation.
