A local Masonic lodge will donate two bikes to each Amphitheater elementary school as part of its reading program.

The Marion McDaniel Masonic Lodge 56 will begin delivering the bikes Thursday morning to kick off the Masonic Fraternity's Bikes for Books program, according to an Amphitheater School District news release.

There are 13 elementary schools in Amphi.

Each school will decide how they want to award the bikes.

Some school officials will use the bikes as an incentive in reading improvement programs, while others will award the bikes as prizes in open reading contests.
