A South Tucson McDonald’s restaurant raised $1,500 for local schools.

The restaurant, owned by Eric Godlove, hosted a month-long McTeacher’s Night Challenge in October for five elementary schools — Cavett Elementary, Ochoa Elementary, Santa Cruz Catholic School, Mission View and Utterback Middle School.

A portion of the sales during a two-hour period benefited each school. School principals and teachers also got in on the act, greeting customers and working the registers. Families of students and local school supporters visited McDonald’s and tipped their teachers to help raise funds.

Santa Cruz Catholic School won the “McTeacher’s Night Challenge” raising the most money with its fundraiser and received a $500 prize.
