A Mountain View High School teacher has been selected to participate in the national Teacher Leadership Initiative.

Benjamin Lee Allen Childers, who teaches math, is one of 150 educators from six states chosen for the 2014 pilot year. The program aims to develop a new generation of leaders within the teaching profession.

Participants will engage with an interactive curriculum designed and facilitated by other expert teachers.

The initiative is a joint endeavor of the National Education Association, the Center for Teaching Quality and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
