The Pima County Joint Technical Education District has hired a new assistant director of central campuses and a central campus counselor to fill vacancies created by recent promotions and retirements.

The JTED Governing Board approved the hires at a meeting earlier this month.

Kathleen Koppy will begin her post as the assistant director of central campuses/assistant principal starting July 1. Koppy is currently the career and technical education coordinator-department chair at Tucson High Magnet School in the Tucson Unified School District. Koppy is also a business/marketing teacher. She has previously completed assignments for JTED as a curriculum writing project lead writer and manager, and employability skills committee member.

Koppy is replacing Tamara Nicolosi, who was promoted in March and will assume the duties of director of central campuses/principal July 1.

N.J. Katusz-Utter of the Sunnyside Unified School District will also join the JTED staff in July as a central campus counselor. Her focus will be on recruiting and helping students enrolled at JTED @ Santa Rita, JTED @ Empire, JTED @ Tanque Verde, and Project SEARCH. Utter has served in Sunnyside as the director of college readiness, as well as a counselor, curriculum and instruction specialist, peer evaluator, and an English teacher.

JTED delivers career and technical education programs in partnership with business, industry and community stakeholders. All JTED programs are tuition-free to high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and young adults who are under 22 years of age who reside within a member school district's boundaries.
