The Rincon-University High School Marching Band earned a score of Superior with Distinction, the highest score possible, at the 60th Annual University of Arizona Band Day.

The band was also awarded the Milton B. Nunamaker Award, presented to the most outstanding bands of the festival, held Saturday. This is the second time in three years the band has received the distinguished award, having also received a Nunamaker Award in 2011.

The students are now preparing to compete at the State Marching Championship on Saturday at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix and the Western Band Association Big Orange Classic in Riverside, Calif.

The Rincon-University Marching Band is under the direction of Jeff Marchant. The color guard is directed by Nicole Hamilton.
