Sunnyside appoints deputy superintendent

Jan Vesely, has been named deputy superintendent of the Sunnyside Unified School District. 

Vesely, previously served as the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, since September 2013. She held the same role from 2007 to 2009, before leaving the district to work as the senior vice president for Education and Achievement Services with Pearson Education. 

As deputy superintendent, Vesely will continue to head the district's curriculum and instruction team and she will also work on school improvement, including overseeing the transformation of Challenger Middle School which recently received a school improvement grant. 

Vesely's appointment was unanimously approved by the governing board last week.
