Sunnyside to host Hispanic leadership institute

The United States Hispanic Leadership Institute will offer a series of motivational and leadership workshops to Sunnyside Unified School District students this week.

The workshops, part the institute's student leadership summit, will run from Wednesday to Friday and cater to all district students in grades 6-12.

Nationally known speakers such as Joaquin ZijhuatanejoJimmy Cabrera and Lina Translavina-Stover will address the students.

Students will also attend workshops on making the decision to graduate and go to college, setting up study schedules and other strategies for success in college, leadership development, financial literacy and other topics.

There also will be a special education workshop for parents and the public at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Sunnyside High School library, 1725 E. Bilby Road.
